Hilton Head Island is a well-known fishing destination. Offering some of the best fishing in the state, the waters around this island offer anglers the chance to catch redfish, trout, flounder, tarpon, cobia, red snapper, black drum – just to name a few. You can fish in-shore or head off-shore in a boat. The best fishing spots to try are The Sea Pines Resort Lagoons, Jarvic Creek Park, Charles C. Haigh Jr. Fishing Pier, Daufuskie Island and Palmetto Dunes. Many people like to fish from the shore – just note you can’t fish in the designated swimming areas. It’s also illegal to fish for sharks from the shore. For the best fishing experience, you’ll want to head out on the Atlantic Ocean in a boat. This will allow you to carry more gear and get away from the crowds. You can also get out on the ocean in a kayak if a boat isn’t an option.
