Winooski River Fishing

Close by the downtown area of the town of Winooski is the “Salmon Hole” of the Winooski River, well-known throughout the state for great fishing and diverse fish species. Depending on the time of year, the river is home to cold and warm water species. Some of these include steelhead rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, rock bass, landlocked Atlantic salmon, brown bullhead, white and yellow perch, fall fish, brown and lake trout, freshwater drum, bowfin, walleye, white sucker, and red horse sucker. In the slower waters downstream of the Salmon Hole, anglers can land chain pickerel, largemouth bass, and northern pike.
