Belgrade Lakes Fishing

The Belgrade Lakes are a series of seven freshwater lakes that flow down into each other in Kennebec County, Maine—Great Pond, Messalonskee Lake, Long Pond, North Pond, East Pond, Salmon Lake, and McGrath Pond. These lakes range from 8,000 acres down to 500, and all of them are easily accessible with great fishing. Gamefish species in the Belgrade Lakes include brook trout, brown trout, and largemouth and smallmouth bass. Access to the lakes is easy thanks to several boat launches maintained by the state. Several spots on the lakes are fishable year-round, and ice fishing and open water fishing are permitted on all the Belgrade Lakes.
