Lake Hartwell is well known by competitive anglers for its amazing bass fishing. This 56,000-acre lake is located on the western border of the state and is home to a variety of fish species. In addition to bass, you can catch catfish, crappie, walleye, bluegill, sunfish, striped bass, and hybrid stripers here. You can fish from the 960 miles of shoreline or use one of the dozen SC boat launch ramps to enjoy fishing by boat. There are all sorts of great fishing spots around this lake, including many islands, humps, bumps, creek channels, points, backwaters, and ledges. Lake Hartwell is also a great place to take the family for a fun day of boating.
