Hawaii’s infamous Pearl Harbor features unrestricted shoreline fishing. Maui’s Kamaole Beach Park and the big islands’ South Point are the main fishing hot spots. For those seeking freshwater fishing, there are plentiful opportunities in Koke State Park, Wahiawa public fishing area, Nu’uanu, and Wailua Reservoirs. Due to overfishing, there are restrictions for fishing off of reefs and bottoms, so be sure to check the Department of Aquatic Resources online site for regulations. Some of the popular freshwater game fish caught here include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, bluegill, and trout. Saltwater catches include bluefin trevally, crevalle jack, bonefish, and tuna.
