You’ll find a wide variety of game fish in the Allegheny River. Best known as an excellent trout-fishing destination, this river is split into two sections. The upper Allegheny portion is located near Coudersport. Approximately 2.7 miles downstream from Pond Road, you’ll find a Delayed Harvest – Artificial Lures Only area. This nine-mile, tailwater section has special regulations that must be followed. Though they no longer stock this area with brown trout, you can still find a few swimming in the nearby tributaries, including Hemlock Run and Browns Run. You may also find rainbow trout here. Many trout in this section are longer than 18 inches. You can find other game fish in the Allegheny River as well, including bass, catfish, crappie, drum, pike, walleye, and muskellunge.
