At 107 miles long and 14 miles wide, Lake Champlain has plenty of room for a plethora of species and a number of fishing hotspots. Gamefish populations in the lake include pumpkinseed sunfish, white and yellow perch, northern pike, rock bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, brown bullhead, and bluegill. In particular, sunfish, perch, and largemouth bass tend to strike on live worms hooked under a bobber. Casting into openings in weed cover or along docksides can be very productive. Panfish like perch and bluegill, as well northern pike and bass have their best fishing in late spring and early summer.
