West of Sioux Falls lies a great game-fishing location called East Vermillion Lake. This 512-acre reservoir is known for its plentiful fish population and clear waters. Here you can catch bluegill, channel catfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, white crappie, yellow bullhead, and yellow perch. This popular fishing destination offers great year-round fishing, including ice fishing in the winter. To catch the northern pike, stick to the eastern side of the reservoir near the campgrounds. In the spring and fall, head to the bridge where you can find a good number of walleye. There are several amenities at East Vermillion Lake, including a boat ramp, fishing dock, and fish-cleaning station. Because the shores are easy to access, you can either fish from the banks, or get out on the water in a boat, canoe, or kayak.
