Lake Francis Fishing

Those who enjoy both camping and fishing will love Lake Francis. Here, you can catch rainbow trout, brown trout, landlocked salmon, lake trout, Eastern chain pickerel, burbot and rainbow smelt. Lake Francis is known primarily as a cold-water fishery, but you can find large chain pickerel here. Some people fish from the shore, but the most popular method of fishing Lake Francis is by trolling. If you’re looking to catch lake trout, plan your trip from April 1 through September 30 – the lake’s official fishing season. The brook trout fishing season starts on the fourth Saturday of April and continues through October 15. And the landlocked salmon fishing season begins on April 1 and extends through September 30. If you enjoy fishing in the winter, the ice fishing season starts on January 1 and runs through March 31.
