If it’s variety you want, Patapsco River is a perfect choice for your next fishing trip. You’ll find many different species throughout this river, including redbreast sunfish, rock bass, smallmouth bass, white suckers, hog suckers, river chubs, spottail shiners and even American eels. Head there in early spring during the migration period where you can catch yourself hickory shad, American shad, gizzard shad, striped bass, white perch, and river herring. Those who love bait or fly fishing for trout will enjoy hunting for one of the many 20+ inch rainbow trout stocked throughout the river. For the best chance of catching one of these giants, you’ll want to plan your trip from mid-October through early June. Patapsco River is also stocked occasionally with brown trout.
