Blairs Valley Lake Fishing

If you’re looking for a true Maryland fishing hot spot, head over to Blairs Valley Lake. Managed mostly as a fishery for warmwater species such as tiger muskie, largemouth bass and bluegill, this lake offers some great catches. Once home to mostly smaller bass, Blairs Valley Lake now boasts many larger largemouth bass and other big fish. In fact, some fishermen have reeled in tiger muskie that were up to forty-four inches long! Some of the natural species you can find here include redear sunfish, black crappie, brow bullhead, carp, and yellow perch – most of which feed on the golden shiners and young panfish. Additionally, Blairs Valley Lake is stocked in the spring and fall with rainbow trout. Fishermen who come here enjoy both shore and boat fishing. If you decide to bring your boat, note that while electric trolling motors are permitted, gas motors are not.
