If you enjoy fly fishing, Wood River is a great place to plan your next fishing trip. Known as Rhode Island’s crown jewel of trout fishing, the cool waters of this beautiful river create the perfect habitat for a thriving fish population. Rainbow and brown trout are stocked here each year in generous amounts. You can find wild brook trout here as well that sometimes measure more than 10 inches. If you’re planning a trip here, head over during trout fishing season, which runs from the second Saturday in April through the end of February. The best access points are located at Deer Check Station, the Pines, the High Banks section, and Blitzcreek Trail.
