Wild Horse Reservoir Fishing

Wild Horse Reservoir is a great place to enjoy fishing in a beautiful, remote setting. This 28,000-acre lake offers year-round fishing and 25 miles of shoreline. Wild Horse Reservoir lies 12 miles south of Mountain City in the north-central part of the state. The water here holds plenty of quality fish. Most people come here to catch the rainbow and brown trout, but the reservoir also holds plenty of bass, catfish, and perch. In the winter, once the ice is safe, Wild Horse Reservoir is a remote place to enjoy quality ice fishing. In fact, the fishing is great here year-round. The easy-to-access shoreline provides a great opportunity for those who like to fish from the bank. And for those who prefer to get out on the water, there are several primitive boat launching areas, as well as a concrete boat ramp located at Wild Horse Reservoir State Recreation Area. This lake is great for canoes, kayaks, car toppers and small fishing boats. You won’t find many amenities, so bring everything you need. If you want to spend the night, you’ll find basic camping nearby without RV hookups.
