Lake Seminole is a standout bass fishing spot in Georgia, largely due to is aquatic vegetation. The thick cover creates a fertile and sheltered environment where gamefish like hybrid stripers, striped bass, largemouth bass, catfish, sunfish, chain pickerel, crappie, and baitfish all thrive. The lake also boasts seventeen different boat launch ramps and several more primitive launch sites, making it easy to get a kayak, canoe, pontoon boats, sailboat, or other fishing craft out on the water.

Lake Seminole has many grass beds, and the dense foliage might make boat navigation tricky. Keep an eye out for those posts of foliage, because fish enjoy the cover. A weedless spoon lure is a good choice around thick water vegetation.

Fish for bass in early spring and late winter in the backwater areas, like the Flint, Spring Creek, and Flint River arms. During March and April, bedding fish can be found in pockets, coves, and sandy flats. Grass will be productive in May through September, and main lake points adjacent to river channels are productive during December through January.

Possession limit is a total of fifty fish, of all varieties. However, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources limits your per-species catch, too. Limits include:

• ten black bass of no more than twelve inches in total length;
• fifteen bass in total, which can include the white, striped, and sunshine bass, and no more than two of your bass may be twenty-two inches or longer;
• thirty crappie;
• fifty panfish; and
• fifteen pickerel, including chain, grass, and redfin.

Lake Seminole crosses a state line. About eighty percent of the Lake is located in Georgia. However, licensed Florida anglers can fish south and west of an artificial border from Chattahoochee Park (on the east bank), through Navigation Mile Marker 3.0 on Flint River.

There are alligators in this habitat, so anglers should be careful when fishing on this shallow lake. It is recommended you travel with a guide or a local expert.
