Belle Fourche Reservoir Fishing

Belle Fourche Reservoir, also known as Orman Dam, is known as one of the top walleye fishing spots in South Dakota. Several walleye tournaments take place on this 8,000-acre lake each year. You can fish from the 58 miles of shoreline, or head out on the water to catch channel catfish, largemouth bass, tiger muskie, walleye, white bass, and white crappie. Belle Fourche Reservoir only has two boat ramps, which can get crowded at times. Since the reservoir’s main purpose is for irrigation, the water levels can change regularly. Those who don’t want to battle the boat ramps can either fish from shore or bring a kayak and head out on the water.
