Arkabutla Lake is a 33,000-acre crappie-fishing paradise located in the state’s northwest corner. Here, you can enjoy 130 miles of shoreline fishing where you can target bass, bream sunfish, catfish, crappie, and white bass. Head over to Pleasant Hill Public Use Area to take advantage of the lake’s parking area, a boat launch ramp and shoreline fishing. There are other areas around the lake that provide access to shore fishing and allow for the portage of kayaks, canoes, and car-top boats. In lake’s upper, backwater area, there’s plenty of brush, which provides ample hiding places for fish. These are great fishing spots, especially when the water temperatures are comfortable. There are a few parks and campgrounds around the area, so bring your whole family to enjoy a day of fishing at Arkabutla Lake.
