One of West Virginia’s best places for trout fishing is Spruce Knob Lake. Each year from March through May, the lake is stocked with trout on a weekly basis. Here, you can also find smaller species, such as bluegill, perch, sunfish, and smallmouth bass. During the winter, once the ice is safe, anglers enjoy excellent ice fishing. A small boat ramp provides water access for canoes, kayaks, and watercraft powered by electric trolling motors. Those visiting the lake have access to a public restroom and parking lot. Head out to the lake to enjoy fly fishing, baitcasting, or spin casting.
