Rappahannock River is a great location to fish for smallmouth bass and redbreast sunfish. The river originates at Chester Gap in Rappahannock County and flows 184 miles out to Chesapeake Bay. Herring, shad, and striped bass are springtime runners along the river. You’ll find a good number of white perch, largemouth bass, striped bass, black crappie, yellow perch, channel catfish, and blue catfish in the river. The most popular way to fish the river is by floating.
