James River is a nationally recognized largemouth bass fishing destination. Bass Masters Classics was held here, as was the FLW Tour Championship (2003). The river is recognized as a top blue catfish fishing destination, but there are other popular fish here, including channel catfish, flathead catfish, striped bass, crappie, and sunfish. The best spots to fish along the river are in its tidal tributaries and the mainstream area by Turkey Island and Jones Neck. This premier fishing spot is too good to pass up!
