Jackson River Fishing

Jackson River north of Lake Moomaw features a variety of fish, such as smallmouth bass, rock bass, rainbow trout, and brown trout. The tailwaters below the dam are home to wild rainbow and brown trout, as well as smallmouth bass, rock bass (redeye), and redbreast. The best time to catch big rainbow trout is in the winter and spring in the river’s tailwater north of Lake Moomaw. The Hidden Valley area offers promising trout catches. Downstream, near Covington, you can find smallmouth bass, redbreast sunfish, and rock bass.
