Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Fishing

At Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, anglers can enjoy surf/freshwater fishing. The dock, located next to the parking lot at D-pool, provides access to fresh-water fishing. You can also find handicap parking next to the dock at D-pool. If you want to go surf fishing, you’ll need access the shore using the seaside/dune trails. In October, the refuge offers a night, surf-fishing program that grants access to the beach until midnight for those who purchase the “special use” permit. Largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill can be found in the freshwater outlets that feed into the bay.
