Fishing opportunities abound at J. Percy Priest Lake. The fishing here is so good, that it attracts several fishing tournaments through the year. To help improve the fish habitat, twenty fish attractor locations were added to the lake. Throw your line out from the banks or from a boat and you may catch striped bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, Cherokee bass, sunfish, catfish, crappie, bluegill, and trout. There are several marinas at J. Percy Priest Lake where you can buy fishing supplies, fishing licenses and rent boats. If you have your own boat, you can use one of the fifteen public boat access areas to get it out on the water. The best shore-fishing spots can be found at Stewart Creek, Vivette Creek, J. Percy Priest Overlook, and Cook Recreation Areas.
