Diamond Lake Fishing

Stocked with rainbow trout, Diamond Lake has some of the best trout fishing in all of Oregon. The plentiful supply of bugs that hatch in the summer help fatten up the fish that live in this year-round fishing lake. You can catch tiger and brown trout here, though you’ll need to release them so they can help keep the population of invasive fish to a minimum. The best times to fish are in April, May, and early June, after the ice melts. Fishing is also fabulous in the fall when the crowds die down and the water temperatures cool. If you want to fish from the shore, enter near the resort or through the Forest Service Campgrounds. If you prefer boat fishing, enter near Silent Creek on the south end, or on the north end where the water is deep. The most effective baits are spinners and lures used while trolling. If you prefer to anchor and fish, try flies or PowerBait near Lake Creek or Silent Creek.
