Ohio River Fishing

Those looking for a true fisherman’s paradise should book a trip to the Ohio River. Some of the popular game fish you can catch here include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, sauger, walleye, white bass, striped bass, hybrid striped bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and blue catfish. If you want to catch the largemouth bass, head to the main river from June through the fall and use crank baits, plastic worms, spinner baits, and jigs. You can find the smallmouth bass all over the river, though the best place to catch them is upstream from the Willow Island Dam. The most abundant fish in the river are sauger and walleye, which are most active in the late fall, winter, and early spring. The white, striped, and hybrid striped bass are also plentiful and are easiest to catch in April and May. And when it comes to catfish, the channel catfish, flathead, and blue catfish are the most abundant and can easily be caught from the shore anywhere along the river.
