Hoover Reservoir Fishing

Outside of Columbus, on the northeast side, you’ll find a great fishing destination called Hoover Reservoir. This 2,800-acre lake is a favorite spot for locals to fish and participate in watersports. The lake’s 45 miles of shoreline provide excellent fishing, as well as spots for sightseeing, picnicking and other outdoor activities. Hoover Reservoir is home to many fish species, including crappie, saugeye, catfish, white bass, gar, and bluegill. But the big draw here are the largemouth and smallmouth bass, which grow to healthy sizes. If you want to get out on the lake, there are six boat ramps where you can launch your boat. Just note that there’s a 10-horsepower limit for motors. Those who want to spend the night will find a campground and lodging options nearby.
