Fontana Lake Fishing

Due to its reputation for amazing fishing, Fontana Lake is a popular location for bass tournaments. The bass here can grow to be larger than 10 pounds, but that isn’t the only species of fish you’ll find here. In addition to largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass, Fontana Lake is home to walleye, brown trout, rainbow trout, carp, crappie and many other panfish. And if that wasn’t enough, you can even catch some huge catfish and muskie if you’re lucky. You can fish from Fontana Lake’s banks, but you’ll find better fishing opportunities if you head out in a boat, kayak, or canoe. You can use one of the public boat ramps to launch your watercraft, or head to the marina where you can rent one for the day. The shoreline cover here isn’t very good, but there are tons of coves, creek channels, ledges, and humps for the fish to hang out around.
