If you’re looking for a fishing destination with a large diversity of fish, plan a trip to Lake Champlain. This lake, which Bassmaster consistently names as one of the best bass fisheries in the United States, contains more than 90 species of fish. Most people come here searching for one of the many sport fish, such as yellow perch, white perch, bluegill sunfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass, rock bass, brown bullhead, and Northern pike. Lake Champlain offers more than 500 miles of shoreline from which to fish. With depths of up to 400 feet, it’s also a great location for boat fishing. You’ll find more than a dozen public boat ramps around the lake. Due to the size of the lake, bigger boats work best, but you can bring a canoe or kayak if you prefer.
