Contoocook Lake Fishing

New Hampshire is filled with excellent fishing lakes, and Contoocook Lake is no exception. Classified as a warmwater fishery, this 344-acre lake in Cheshire County forms the headwaters of the Contoocook River, along with Pool Pond. Most fishermen come to Contoocook Lake in hopes of catching a largemouth bass, but there are many other fish species here, including smallmouth bass, white perch, yellow perch, catfish, black crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, chain pickerel and brown bullhead. You can either fish from the moderately developed shoreline or use the unpaved boat ramp in Rindge to get your boat out on the water. Contoocook Lake is also a great place to go ice fishing in the winter.
