Connecticut River Fishing

One of the best spots to fish in New England during the summer months is the upper Connecticut River. This river is well known for its amazing trout and salmon fishing. You can catch other fish here too, including native brook trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, perch, walleye, and largemouth bass. The float fishing here is spectacular in the lower sections, as is the fly fishing. If you’re lucky, you may even land a Northern pike. There are two areas of the river that only allow fly fishing – below First Connecticut Lake and below Second Connecticut Lake. Outside of those two areas, you can use lure and bait. If you enjoy fly fishing in the early season or in mid-summer, this is the perfect river for you.
