Sutherland Reservoir Fishing

Sutherland Reservoir offers anglers the chance to catch a wide variety of fish, including channel catfish, freshwater drum, walleye, smallmouth bass, trout, sunfish, wipers, yellow perch, and other sport fish. While this is a great location for shore fishing, most people come here to fish from canoes, kayaks, or other fishing boats. The lake averages a depth of 35 feet but can get as deep as 60 feet in some areas. If you’re looking for the larger fish, stick to the deeper spots. In the winter, you can ice fish here, but be very careful as you head out onto the ice. A nearby hydroelectric power plant discharges heated water into the lake, which can create areas of thin ice. Sutherland Reservoir has a handicap-accessible pier and offers a cleaning station for your convenience.
