Calamus Reservoir Fishing

For a great day of fishing, head out to Calamus State Recreation Area where you’ll find Calamus Reservoir. Located in central Nebraska, this 5,200-acre lake offers anglers the chance to catch several sport fish, including walleye, white bass, wipers (white/striped bass hybrid), channel catfish, carp, drum, muskie, northern pike and crappie. And if you’re looking for rainbow trout, you’ll find them in the adjoining Gracie Creek Pond, where they are stocked regularly. Those visiting Calamus Reservoir in spring and early summer tend to target walleye. In the summer, white bass, wipers, and catfish become the hot fish to catch. You can clean the fish you catch using one of the two fish-cleaning stations. The lake offers several other amenities as well, including a store where you can buy fishing tackle, a place to rent boats and a bar and grill if you want to take a break from fishing.
