Roaring River Fishing

Known for its excellent rainbow trout fishing, Roaring River contains a hatchery that is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. The hatchery ensures the river is regularly stocked with fish. In addition to the abundant rainbow trout, you can find brown trout here. There are three distinct zones in Roaring River, each of which has special bait/lure and creel restrictions. Zone 1 stretches from the hatchery to the mouth of Dry Hollow Creek. This area only allows artificial lures, flies, and soft plastic baits. Zone 2 runs from the mouth of Dry Hollow Creek to the dam at the lower end of Campground 3. This area only permits the use of flies. Zone 3 includes the area from the dam to the park boundary. If you fish in this area, you can only use flies, artificial lures, and natural or scented baits – this includes putty, paste, and dough.
