Manistee River Fishing

The Manistee River is known for its superb steelhead and salmon fishing opportunities. Anglers also come here to target various sizes of trout. Here, you can find little brook trout as well as big and broad brown and rainbow trout. These fish provide plenty of action above and below the water’s surface. Trout season slows down in the fall; however, salmon season picks up in August. You can catch early stream fish in September, during which they are trailed by big runs of Chinook and coho salmon. Anglers fly fish for steelheads during their fall runs, which happen during the first part of October. Every angler should plan at least one fishing trip to the Manistee River.
