Houghton Lake Fishing

Houghton Lake is Michigan’s largest inland body of water and is considered a fishing paradise. The expansive 20,000-acre lake is located in the northeast portion of the lower peninsula. Its 30 miles of accessible shoreline provides plenty of shore fishing opportunities. Anglers come here to pursue the generous numbers of walleye, perch, bluegill, pike, sunfish, crappie, and bass. In addition to being a fishing wonderland, families come here to enjoy the numerous year-round amenities, including campgrounds, fishing guides, parks, dining, water recreation, shopping, winter ice fishing, and marinas. Canoes and kayaks are a great way to enjoy the lake on days when the wind is calm. There’s no doubt that Houghton Lake is a fishing and outdoor recreation destination well worth visiting. Grab your tackle and head to the lake for a day of fishing fun.
