Castle Island Fishing

A popular fishing area located in south Boston is Castle Island, where Fort Independence is also located. Anglers come to target the various species that inhabit the waters here, such as Cunner, Striped Bass, Bluefish, and winter Flounder. The prime time to fish here is April to June because large-size Bass come to Castle Island the first part of June. You’ll find these fish at the mouth of rivers, sharp drop-offs, and outcropped areas. At sunrise, you’ll find bigger fish are easier to catch on lures in the rocky shallows.
