Piney Run Lake Fishing

When it comes to great Maryland fisheries, Piney Run Reservoir ranks as one of the best. Common fish you can find here include sunfish, redear, largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, yellow perch, and black crappie. You may even be able to catch yourself a striped bass – although their lack of natural reproduction means they aren’t as plentiful. It’s common for fishermen to catch 36-inch muskie in Piney Run Lake, which, as part of their put-and-take program, is stocked annually with rainbow trout. There are also plenty of other fish species at Piney Run Lake, including pumpkinseen sunfish, redbreast sunfish, smallmouth bass, brown bullhead, spotfin shiner, white sucker, banded killifish, bluntnose minnow, creek chub, tessellated darter, and golden shiner. You can enjoy fishing from the shore or a boat – just keep in mind that gasoline-powered motors are prohibited.
