Spirit Lake Fishing

Iowa’s seven Great Lakes are a fishing mecca, the largest of which is Spirit Lake. Its diverse population of fish make this lake is popular among anglers. Here you can find crappie, bass, catfish, northern pike, perch, sunfish, and other species. Panfish and walleye are the most targeted species. A considerable number of pike, muskie, and largemouth/smallmouth bass are also available. Anglers try to catch walleye from late August to October by using a #5 stick bait to troll the 18-20-deep main basin.
