Black Hawk Lake Fishing

Black Hawk Lake in the town of Lake View is one of northwest Iowa’s premier fishing locations. Covering 950 acres with more than twelve miles of shoreline, the lake offers anglers the chance to catch bass, catfish, crappie, walleye, perch, and muskie year-round. You can also ice fish on the lake in the winter once the ice is safe. Private homes with boat docks surround the lake, but there are ample areas to access the lake by shore or boat. A fishing house, provided by the DNR, offers sheltered fishing where you are protected from the sun and weather. The lake offers plenty of hiding places for fish and baitfish, including as brush, rocky shores, docks, and trees. The lake also offers many amenities, including boat ramps, canoe/kayak portaging through Black Hawk State Park, three campgrounds, and lodging. Whether you’re fishing from shore canoe, kayak, boat, or pontoon, Black Hawk Lake is a beautiful spot to enjoy great recreation and fishing.
