Lake Springfield Fishing

One of Illinois’ best fishing spots for channel catfish is Lake Springfield. The best time to visit if you want to catch channel catfish is during the warmer months. You’ll have the best luck if you try fishing the bottom with various baits, such as cut, shrimp, nightcrawlers, and chicken livers. The lake is also known as one of the state’s better areas to fish for largemouth bass. There are about 45 different species of fish in the 50-mile, shore-lined lake. This lake can be difficult to shore fish, due the large number of trees and privately owned property; however, you can access plenty of good fishing with a canoe or kayak.
