In southern Illinois is Lake of Egypt, where anglers can fish on 2,300 acres lined with more than 90 miles of shoreline. You can access the shore for fishing in several areas, including Buck Ridge Campground. These areas are also accessible for portaging canoes and kayaks. Lake of Egypt has a plentiful stock of various species of fish, including bluegill, cass, and crappie. Boat launch ramps offer easy access for recreational and fishing boats. April is the best time to land big catches and a lunker or two.
