Kailua-Kona Fishing

Mainland Hawaii is home to Kailua Kona, a famous area for anglers seeking deep-sea saltwater fishing opportunities. Anglers flock to the annual International Billfish Tournament held here every August. The area has a lot to offer with its transparent blue offshore waters. Here you’ll find many game fish that are considered to be prize catches, including mahi-mahi, marlin, tuna, and ahi. Many anglers visiting Kailua Kona aren’t aware of the abundance of good fishing that exists in this area. The coastal reefs have plentiful species of tropical fish, making shore-casting or pier-casting between Kailua Kona’s fishing pier and Keauhou Bay promising for landing angelfish, snapper, giant trevally (ulua), and more.
