Release Rig

For a release rig, you’ll be using a hook link that is partially fixed on the lure when you cast out or retrieve your line. This rig is designed so that the line immediately releases from the hook link and moves up the trace line when a fish chomps the lure and shakes its head.

Release Rig

This rig works great for bony-jawed predators, such as pike, because it lodges the hook in the softer, top part of the fish’s jaw. This means the fish is less likely to get away.
