Czech Nymphing Rig

The Czech nymphing rig is a great option for year-round fishing. This is the rig to try if no fish are coming to the surface to look for food. The best thing about this rig is that it is designed to present the bait where the fish are used to eating – under the surface. These rigs mimic the look of shrimps or caddis fly larvae. To make this rig, simply tie weighted flies to grub-style hooks.

Czech Nymphing Rig

This rig calls for the use of 2 to 3 flies. The fishing conditions will dictate how many flies are used. The flies used with this rig should either be Bobeshes or Sedges. A Sedge has a green or yellow body and a dark underbelly. The Sedge rig mimics the look of Sedge larvae. A Bobeshes has a fatter body and has legs coming out of its underbelly. These flies mimic the look of caddie larvae or other underwater insects.
