The Spider Hitch is a speedy knot to create a double line. Although it isn’t as tough and hard-wearing as a Bimini Hitch, it is a quicker and easier knot to tie. Learn how to tie the Spider Hitch Knot following the 5 simple steps below.
Step 1: Create a double line. Wrap the double line back over itself to form a loop.
Step 2: Hold the loop between thumb and forefinger at the point where the double lines crossover.
Step 3: Wrap the loop end of the double line around the thumb and loop 5 times. Then pass the loop end of the double line through the original loop. (Note: Wrap the loop end of the double line around the thumb 15 times if using braided line).
Step 4: Softly pull on the double line neatly unwinding the loops from the thumb.
Step 5: Lubricate and pull on all four strands in the line to tighten the knot.
