Fish eggs are excellent bait, but hard to pin down. An Egg Loop Knot is a way of tying your own leader to create a secure way to attach fish eggs and roe to a hook. First you will tie the knot, then slide part of the leader back through the hook eye. This makes a loop form, which is where the eggs or roe are set. Learn how to tie the Egg Loop Knot following the 10 steps below.
Step 1: Take a leaderline and hook.
Step 2: Pass the tag end of the leader line through the eye of the hook.
Step 3: Wrap the long end of the leader line around the hook and tag end.
Step 4: Wrap the line around the hook and tag end about 15 times.
Step 5: Pass the long end of the leader line around the hook and through the eye.
Step 6: Create a loop in the leader line.
Step 7: Wrap the loop around the hook, tag end and leader line about 5 times.
Step 9: Pull the long end of the leader line to tighten the wraps.
Step 10: Retract the leader line to open up the egg loop.
